Here's a look at some of the animals we have rescued over the years and the people we've met along the way - enjoy! |
In Loving Memory of Jack
Jack you are on our minds and in our hearts as well. You are missed but most of all LOVED
We had lost our dog Sheena, and I was looking for another to fill that terrible void that comes with the loss of a member of the family. I looked into the Internet and found Jack at Walkers Rescue. Jack was the most loving and special dog ever. He loved everyone and everything. He did not have a mean bone in his body. Jack was about 10 when we got him they thought. We were lucky to have him for about 5 years. We would have loved to have had him longer but that was not to be.
We had to have Jack Euthanized on Saturday, May 22nd and it was the hardest thing again that I have had to do. My heart aches for this wonderful friend of ours. My husband and I miss him so much. Jack had some problems with his back for quite some time. It got progressively worse along with other problems, and finally he was in so much pain I could not hang onto him any longer. After Jack was put to sleep....I was holding onto him and crying so hard I was devastated. My husband was behind me with tears flowing down his face. The Vet checked Jackie's heart and said he was gone and then Jack wagged his tail....even though he was already gone. The vet checked his eyes and heart again, and yes, he was gone....but he had wagged his tail. That helped me a little. I knew he was happier now and out of pain. I want to thank Stephanie for giving Jack to us. It was our gift from her....and we loved every minute we had with him. He was a wonderful pet...we have some great memories with Jack. Sleep well my pet Jackie....We love you and miss you but we know you are happier now. Marg and Bob Settler Qualicum Beach B.C.

Thanks to Marg and her loving husband for opening their home and heart to Jack and giving him probably the best years of his life. He did not have a very good start but that all changed the day they pulled up in their car outside my office. I really was taken by Marg you could tell right away that her eyes were pure. (Like the saying..."Your eyes are the windows to your soul").

Local Youth Make a Difference
|
Walker's Arc would like to thank and acknowledge the generosity and heart of four young people who donated their Christmas money to help the animals at Walker's Animal Rescue Centre. We appreciate any and all help we receive, but it is very special when young adults give up their holiday money to help an animal rescue group. |

We at Walker's Animal Rescue would like to thank all four of these thoughtful and kind youngsters who decided to think of the animals instead of themselves this Christmas, and helped to put the 'give' in giving this season.
Thank you - you have made a difference! |
Baby Seal Rescue! |
 |
 |
 |
On July 11th, this baby seal was rescued in Nanaimo inlet. A call came into Walkers' Animal Rescue that there was concern for the safety of an abandoned or orphaned baby seal. She had been observed for 4 days without any sign of her mother, and it was believed that her mother either died or abandoned her for some reason. Time was running out for this little darling and she needed help fast if she was to survive. We went right away to take a look and were very pleased to have been able to be a part of getting her the help she needed and deserved. |

We were able to get her safely to the Nanaimo airport where we met with Norm, the helicopter pilot who transports all sorts of injured, abandoned or sick wildlife - what a great job to have, and what a great guy!
After she was safely packed up by Norm and traveled to Vancouver, the baby seal - named Rosa Park after the well-known activist - is now recuperating at the Vancouver Aquarium with other seal friends. We hope to be able to keep everyone up to date with Rosa's progress at the aquarium - stay tuned! |
