Help us build a permanent facility for our animals |
Walker's Animal Rescue Centre is a no kill, not-for-profit animal shelter
located in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada.
We
provide a temporary home for animals that are adoptable. Animals that come to us have been abandoned ,unwanted and or abused. Every pet regardless of age, breed, health issues and
handicap is treated with the utmost care and love until we
find a wonderful 'forever' home. For animals that are unadoptable they will live out their life with us and receive love and care and be kept safe comfortable as they would in any other home.We provide a home type setting so all animals can be calm and not feel threatened and or alone.

We are currently working to raise funds to purchase a permanent facility to accommodate animals in our care, now and in the future. Walker’s A.R.C. needs your help in providing a permanent place where animals can live until they are adopted. We also need a permanent facility to accommodate the animals that will live their life out with us and be as comfortable, safe and healthy as can be. With a permanent facility we can provide the love and care needed without limitations.

Baby Seal Rescue! |
On July 11th, this baby seal was rescued in Nanaimo inlet. A call came into Walkers' Animal Rescue that there was concern for the safety of an abandoned or orphaned baby seal. She had been observed for 4 days without any sign of her mother, and it was believed that her mother either died or abandoned her for some reason. Time was running out for this little darling and she needed help fast if she was to survive. We went right away to take a look and were very pleased to have been able to be a part of getting her the help she needed and deserved. |
We were able to get her safely to the Nanaimo airport where we met with Norm, the helicopter pilot who transports all sorts of injured, abandoned or sick wildlife - what a great job to have, and what a great guy!
After she was safely packed up by Norm and traveled to Vancouver, the baby seal - named Rosa Park after the well-known activist - is now recuperating at the Vancouver Aquarium with other seal friends. We hope to be able to keep everyone up to date with Rosa's progress at the aquarium - stay tuned! |

Our Feral Cats Need Your Help! |
The property that many of our feral cats call home has just been sold, and we need to find somewhere to move them. If you have a property large enough to relocate these cats, please contact Stephanie right away at 250-754-7081 or walkersrescue@shaw.ca.
We also need donations of food and kitty litter so we can continue to assist these abandoned and wild cats to survive the winter. The A.R.C. is still seeking a property that we can use as a permanent shelter. If you know of any property in the central Vancouver Island area that may suit this purpose, please contact the shelter at 250-754-7081. |
At this time and all through the year we need continued financial assistance. With all the animals in our care we need regular food and supplies. You can help us - one animal at a time.
